

About me
Ellen Denny (she/her) is a professional actor and playwright working across Canada.
Ellen's produced plays include Pleasureville (Neptune Theatre, The Guild Charlottetown) and Take Care (Here for Now Theatre), as well as short works for Driftwood Theatre and Live Bait Theatre. Through the Launch Pad program (Musical Stage / Yonge St Theatricals), Ellen was bookwriter for What Goes Up (REPRINT, Globe & Mail Centre) with songwriting team Colleen Dauncey and Akiva Romer-Segal.
During the pandemic, Ellen co-founded Sudden Spark Collective with Emilio Vieira. Together, they produced february: a love story (CBC q, Globus Theatre, Magnus Theatre) and Above Ground Floor (STRATFEST@HOME), proudly keeping artists employed and reaching international audiences.
Ellen is working towards premiering her play Wonder, about her great-great-aunt Harriet Brooks, Canada's first female nuclear physicist. She is also developing a musical comedy, The Great(er) Maple Syrup Heist, and a solo show, Project Qyzra, which was a 2024 finalist for the LANDO grant (The de Groot Foundation).
Originally from London, Ontario, Ellen moved to Halifax to study Music & Theatre at Dalhousie University, and is now based in Toronto. She is a member of ACTRA, CAEA and the Playwrights Guild of Canada.
